Schneider Electric Acquires Cognite in $3.1B Deal, Signaling Industrial AI Expansion
Schneider Electric's $3.1 billion acquisition of Cognite marks one of Europe's largest industrial software transactions. The deal underscores growing demand for AI-driven solutions in energy, manufacturing, and infrastructure sectors.
Aker ASA, Cognite's primary backer, stands to gain $1.48 billion from the sale—a NOK 7.4 billion increase over its Q1 2026 net asset value. The Oslo-based investment firm framed the transaction as validation of its long-term value creation strategy.
The acquisition aligns with Schneider Electric's aggressive push into data infrastructure. The company recently secured $2.3 billion in contracts with US data center operators Switch and Digital Realty, focusing on AI-optimized power and cooling systems.
